M. longipies are similar to P. persimilis in attacking two spot spider mites but can tolerate drier, less humid conditions. Their temperature range from 65 to 90 degrees with relative humidity of 40% to 60%. Humidity needs to rise as temperature increases. Longipes are most effective in warm greenhouses and interiorscapes.
M. longipies can be beige, amber or red pear shaped and less than 0.5mm long. Females lay their eggs, as many as 54, among their prey and webbing on the underside of the leaves that will hatch in 1 to 4 days. Their immature stages and 34 days as an adult. Release between 10 to 15 per 10 square feet. Come mixed with corn grit.
